While we are at it, check out the this segment of the wonderful Iranian film called The Day I Became a Woman. See here part 1 and part 2 (both are about 15 minutes in length). These also include some wonderful folk astronomy too - though I should mention that at Iranian latitudes, the shadow of the stick never disappears at noon. Oh - but this is just a minor quibble in a wonderfully sweet story.
