Another college lecturer killed in Quetta

Just couple of weeks ago I had posted about the shooting death of a university professor in Quetta, Pakistan. Now there is another killing of a lecturer. From Dawn:
QUETTA: A lecturer of Agriculture College Quetta was found dead in the city’s Rahim Colony area on Saturday.

Police say Syed Wali, who was serving as a researcher and lecturer in the college, was shot and beaten to death at his residence on Friday night.

There were several bullet wounds on his body.

His body was shifted to Quetta’s Civil Hospital for a post-mortem. Police was now investigating the incident.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the killing.

There is no clue about motivations in either of these killings - though the issue of ethnicity was raised in the shooting of the University of Baluchistan professor last month. Syed Wali here was shot and beaten to death. When life itself is in danger, what can we say about colleges and universities as a space for free inquiry.
